Victor Osimhen has been told that he has become a “problem” for Napoli amid his ongoing summer transfer uncertainty that has seen Chelsea and Arsenal so far put off making a bid for him.

Napoli have, up to this point, been insistent that Osimhen’s €130 million release clause be matched if he is to be sold.

With even Chelsea and Arsenal having been put off making such a dramatic investment in the 25-year-old Nigeria international, the Serie A side have started to waver on this stance. Indeed, they appear now to be willing to drop their price to around €100m.

It is unclear if this will be enough to trigger a move from the Premier League sides or even PSG, who have also been linked with the superstar.

'Osimhen didn't deserve this'

Osimhen, who earns a reported €10m per year at Napoli, has become a major issue for the club, according to local journalist, Giancarlo Padovan, who outlined the stark position both player and club find themselves in.

“Osimhen has become a problem,” Padovan told Radio Punto Nuovo (via TuttoNapoli). “He should have been sold last year. When they offer you €100m, you have to give in.

“The problem is that now nobody wants him at that price, but luckily there is the Saudi Arabia market and there you can find an answer. He didn't deserve this conclusion.”

Osimhen holds a preference to move to another European club, with the player in particular seeking a move to the Premier League, though if no suitable offer arrives at Napoli’s door, the Saudi Pro League will indeed become a distinct possibility.

The Nigeria international scored 15 goals in 25 Serie A matches for Napoli last season, which was a disappointing return given he struck 26 in 32 in 22/23 as the Naples side won a historic title.
