Federico Chiesa is facing an uncertain future at Juventus, according to Italian media.

The Italy international has not been having an easy time of it and this has thrown doubt on his future at Juventus. Frequent fitness issues and unimpressive performances mean that Chiesa has lost his place as one of the Bianconeri's undisputed top players.

With his contract expiring in 2025, both he and Juventus find themselves at something of a crossroads. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, it has actually been Chiesa's entourage who have contacted the Old Lady about a potential contract extension, but talks are not expected to be straightforward between the two camps due to the above-mentioned reasons.

The rise of Kenan Yildiz in recent weeks means that Chiesa finds himself in a precarious position. While still a brilliant player, he is not invincible or unsellable and Juventus are well aware of this. They can now afford to lose him, something that seemed unthinkable just a year or so ago, and they could be tempted into cashing in on him even if they do not want to actively force him out of the club.

Where could Chiesa go?

The former Fiorentina man was once one of Europe's most sought-after commodities. A star for Italy and his club sides, the winger was a reliable attacking threat and scintillating performer. Liverpool were hot on his heels for several years and even as late as last summer there were still tentative rumours about potential interest from Merseyside.

The 26-year-old boasts six goals and two assists in Serie A this term, which is far from a terrible return. However, it is doubtful whether Liverpool would still be prepared to shell out big money on him considering his injury history. Given that the Reds are currently without a sporting director and with Jurgen Klopp departing too, it is unlikely that they will reignite their interest anytime soon.

Data experts SciSports believe that, at this point, Chiesa would be better off following in the path of Paulo Dybala and leaving Juventus for a club like Roma, giving them a Club Fit rating of 78 as per their Career Advice tool. Inter, Aston Villa and Real Sociedad are also deemed good options, illustrating that Chiesa's time at the very top of the game may be over already.
