Manchester United don't need to go shopping for a striker this winter according to midfielder Casemiro, with Rasmus Hojlund tipped for big things at Old Trafford.

Hojlund joined United from Atalanta for €73.9 million in August, but took until December to open his Premier League account, hitting the winner in a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.

The young Dane had managed five goals in six Champions League games, but that hasn't stopped the Red Devils being linked with a host of names for the striker position.

Serhou Guirassy and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting can be picked up on the cheap from the Bundesliga, while former United striker Louis Saha recently urged the club to sign Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad.

But Casemiro thinks none of that will be necessary.

Casemiro: 'he could define an era'

"A lot of people think that he should be coming in and scoring 30-odd goals right away [but] he's still young and this is his first season in the Premier League," the Brazil midfielder told the club's official website.

"He's definitely playing better in every game and he's working really hard… He'll be a great player for this club and, with the ambitions he has, he could define an era at Manchester United."

Casemiro's own United future has grown uncertain in recent weeks and months. A €70.7m arrival from Real Madrid the summer before last, he hit the ground running at Old Trafford, but he has struggled to hit the same standards this season.

It has been widely reported that new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe sees the acquisition of the then 30-year-old as typical of United's poor transfer strategy in recent years, and a move to Saudi Arabia has been mooted.

Former Real teammates Casemiro and Benzema could be reunited, but it seems far more likely to be in the Middle East than at Old Trafford now.
