Momodou Sonko of BK Hacken has opened up about the latest reports linking him with a move away, saying that he's being urged by friends to consider a move to either Liverpool or Barcelona.

Since making his debut for the Swedish club's first team in 2022, the winger has impressively contributed with 14 goals and eight assists in 44 games. Naturally, such form has drawn attention from clubs in Europe.

A report from Fotboll Direkt has stated that Liverpool, RB Leipzig, and Bologna are actively pursuing the 18-year-old, with meetings taking place in Gothenburg.

Gustavsson reports that Hacken has already turned down an offer exceeding €4m though it’s not clear which club made the offer.

The player’s current contract extends until 2025, and Hacken's sporting director, Martin Ericsson, recently spoke about the interest in his player.

He said: “The interest is huge. Then it must be said that there have been some other young players who end up in the spotlight in Sweden. But the interest is great, especially considering the size of clubs.

“Then I think everyone understands that this is no cheap player. I think that pretty much all the big clubs in Europe know who ‘Mommo’ is and have followed him. But there are a lot of things that have to fall into place for it to become a deal.”

Sonko opens up about Liverpool links

As Sonko spoke to Sportbladet about a move to Liverpool. “I have some who are Liverpool fans and some Barça fans. They want me to go to the club they support. It’s kind of funny.

“I get a lot written to me from my friends. It’s fun at first but it can be too much too.”

The 18-year-old was then asked about what he would do if Jurgen Klopp called him, to which he replied: “If he were to call privately, I would laugh. It is quite unlikely.

“It is easier for him to reach my agents than me. I haven’t received that call anyway.”
