Manchester City are set to make a club record move for AC Milan superstar Rafa Leao.

According to Fichajes, the Premier League and Champions League winners are preparing a move and are ready to pay €150 million for the Portuguese winger.

Such a move would make Leao the most expensive player in the history of the Premier League and Man City, as well as a record sale for Milan and Serie A.

He would also become the third most expensive transfer in football history, behind only Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for their transfers to PSG in 2017.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola is known to be a big fan of Leao, who boasts lightning pace and can be unstoppable when in full flow.

There will be question marks as to whether Leao can coexist in the same team as new signing Jeremy Doku, who has impressed massively in the left wing role this season.

Leao signed a new five-year contract with Milan until 2028 earlier this year but his future remains in question at the end of the current season.

There is also believed to be a release clause in his Milan contract of around €170m, according to Gianluigi Longari.

Leao has attracted the interest of a host of top European clubs such as Chelsea, Man Utd and Real Madrid over the last year or so.

Leao was Milan’s key player as they won their first Serie A title in 11 years in 2021-22. He was named Serie A Player of the Year, scoring 14 goals and grabbing 12 assists in all competitions.

Last season he struggled to hit the same heights but he still played an important role as Milan reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

This term Leao has also been inconsistent, though he was in inspired form in the last match in the Champions League as he scored in a 2-1 win over PSG.
