Manchester United have been urged to send Sofyan Amrabat back to Fiorentina on the conclusion of his loan deal next summer by club legend Paul Parker.

United worked hard to beat Barcelona to Amrabat's signature in the summer following his starring role in Morocco's run to the World Cup semi-finals the previous December.

The Red Devils had already spent most of their budget on players such as Andre Onana and Mason Mount, and they managed to persuade Fiorentina to accept a loan deal now with €9 million paid up front, and an option to buy next summer for €25m.

With Amrabat spotted at Camp Nou last year, it was something of a coup for the Red Devils, who were looking for further cover in midfield alongside Casemiro, with Scott McTominay looking to be on his way out of the club.

But while McTominay has enjoyed a second wind at Old Trafford, Amrabat has only started four Premier League games, and Parker thinks his time is up.

'After the loan, he goes back'

"Amrabat, you'll have to let him go," the former right-back, who won two Premier League's with Man Utd in the early 1990s, told MyBettingSites.

"If you're talking about how it's looking at the moment with the sports side being brought up and you look at what the intentions are for next season, which is a vast improvement on this season, I would say 'no'. After the loan's done, he goes back."

Amrabat is currently valued at €19.5m by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm, so Fiorentina would do well to get another club to agree to a €25m outlay on the player after his struggles this season.

United are braced for an overhaul with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to complete a minority investment in the club that will give him 'sporting control', with Parker suggesting there would also be no place for Sergio Reguilon, Jonny Evans, Anthony Martial and Tom Heaton going forward.
