Manchester United have enquired about Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey, according to a report.

The Frenchman has impressed in Turkey since making the switch and this has, in turn, attracted the interest of Premier League sides. A regular fixture in Istanbul, Boey was already linked with a move to England in the summer.

Arsenal had been said to be keen on the 23-year-old in their bid to find reliable cover for the injury-prone Takehiro Tomiyasu, but with Ben White making the right-back position his own this term, it is unclear whether the Gunners' interest remains.

Burnley were reportedly also very interested and actually pursued an ultimately unsuccessful deal. Since then, Galatasaray have initiated contract talks over a one-year extension in a bid to stave off high-profile interest, but negotiations have hit an impasse, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

This has opened up a window of opportunity that, claims Hawkins, Man Utd are trying to exploit.

Man Utd's right-back problem

The French journalist reports that the Red Devils have enquired about Boey's availability with a view to potentially making a move. That is, however, all the information that was disclosed.

If a deal with his current side can't be reached, it is likely that he will be made available in the summer seeing as though his current contract expires in 2025.

Man Utd are currently faced with a tricky situation at right-back. Jeremie Frimpong was targeted in the summer, but a deal wasn't pursued as the Red Devils were ready to put their trust in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The former signed a new long-term deal but his form has massively declined lately, while the latter is on an expiring contract with United reportedly prepared to offer him an extension.

This could leave them with both right-backs tied down for the next half-decade - but with neither really looking good enough to start consistently - which would, in turn, make a deal for any potential upgrade difficult.
