Jayden Addai was watched by Manchester United scouts during the match between AZ Under 19s and Molde FK in the Youth League.

The attacker has impressed this season in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and has therefore attracted the attention of some leading international teams, including Man Utd.

With nine goals in 11 league games, Addai is perhaps the biggest sensation in the second tier of Dutch football this season. Only 18 years old, the winger is still waiting for his debut in the first team of the Alkmaar side, but seems to be knocking on the door with his performances with Jong AZ.

Man Utd next manager odds: Zidane favourite to replace Ten Hag

Despite his permanent starting position with Jong AZ, Addai is also part of the Under-19 side this season, which participates in the Youth League.

Partly thanks to a goal and no fewer than two assists from Addai, the young AZ side won 4-3 away from home in Norway against Molde FK. According to the English media, Manchester United scouts saw how Addai claimed the man of the match and led his team to victory.

Since Addai still has a contract in Alkmaar until mid-2025, it seems unlikely that AZ will simply cooperate in the departure of the lightning-fast attacker.

Pascal Jansen, head coach of AZ, recently spoke in De Telegraaf with praise for the talented teen who excels every week.

“That doesn't surprise me at all because Jayden is a great talent,” he commented. “He’s a good player, so I hope he shows up in 30-plus games in the KKD. I hope that he can standout there.”

Addai already a European champion

Addai previously played a part in AZ’s triumph in the UEFA Youth League last season, when they claimed the trophy thanks to a 5-0 success over Hajduk Split.

Having knocked out Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sporting CP, they dominated the 2023 final 5-0 against the Croats, with Addai opening the scoring from the penalty spot.
