He has also scored in the club's DFB-Pokal and Europa League fixtures, taking his tally to eight in all competitions.

If he manages to keep this up throughout the season, he will surely be the subject of transfer talks next summer.

And, why look further than Pep Guardiola's City side - if that was to become an option for the 22-year-old?

Victor Boniface to Man City?

There are a number of similarities between Boniface and City's star striker, Erling Haaland.

Boniface (6 feet 2 inches) is not quite as tall as Haaland (6 feet 4 inches) but he is a physical presence nonetheless. The Nigerian is adept at holding the ball up with with back to goal.

While, Boniface's movement in the box is similar to Haaland's, which has led to his prolific start to the season in front of goal.

The Leverkusen striker is more likely to drop deep to pick up the ball or run the channels than the Norwegian, however, which could allow them to play together in a front two.

Having said that, Boniface would likely join City as Haaland's understudy, with a view to replacing him in a few years' time - should he leave for Real Madrid.

Julian Alvarez may not take well to the signing of Boniface but he has excelled in the 'number 10' position this campaign and could continue to do so with the Bundesliga star in the side.
