Real Madrid boss Ancelotti makes feelings on De Gea transfer CLEAR

David de Gea is not preferred by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti following the potentially season-ending injury to Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgium international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee during training with his club and is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days. The 31-year-old has made over 200 appearances for the club since leaving Chelsea in 2018, becoming one of the first names on the team sheet.

However, with the No.1 suffering a significant setback, the LaLiga club is now on the hunt for a goalkeeper who can fill in. Former Manchester United player De Gea emerged as one of the targets for Los Blancos.

The Spaniard is a free agent after failing to agree on new terms with Man Utd at the end of last season. But, according to a report from Cope, Los Blancos manager Ancelotti has vetoed the idea of bringing in the veteran keeper. He does not believe that De Gea would be a suitable choice for the side ahead of the upcoming campaign.

While De Gea could be a cost-effective option for the club, his style of play does not align with Ancelotti's preferences.

Instead, Sevilla’s Bono has emerged as a strong candidate for Real Madrid. The only potential issue is his release clause, which stands at €50 million, although it's thought that a transfer could be secured for around €30 million.

Sky Sports had reported that Real Madrid had contacted De Gea's representatives regarding a possible move. They were also checking on Kepa Arrizabalaga's situation at Chelsea.

However, Man Utd chose not to renew De Gea's contract, and manager Erik ten Hag decided to pursue other targets. As a result, Andre Onana moved from Inter earlier in the window to become the club’s first-choice keeper.
