Man Utd handling of Greenwood issue tearing club apart

The Mason Greenwood situation is tearing Manchester United apart, claims a report.
The Red Devils still have not made a decision on the disgraced forward's future some seven months after launching an 'internal investigation.' The 21-year-old has not been part of Manchester United's first team since January 2022 when he was arrested.
Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling behaviour, and assault, though these charges were ultimately dropped, prompting an avalanche of questions about his United future.

On Wednesday, the club issued a statement taken by many as an attempt to test the water ahead of a potential return, something vehemently opposed by the club's women's team and women's supporters' group as well as by many aware of the fact that charges dropped does not mean innocent.
“We also have responsibilities to Mason as an employee, as a young person who has been with the club since the age of seven, and as a new father with a partner" - this line made it clear that United were seriously considering bringing the 21-year-old back into the fold. This course of action is reportedly favoured by the club's sporting hierarchy, including head coach Erik ten Hag, and it is tearing Manchester United apart.
Employes ashamed
That is according to The Guardian, which reports that "many Manchester United employees feel a deep sense of shame that Mason Greenwood is expected to be retained by the club, though a sizeable number believe the forward should be welcomed back."
The report goes on to say that the handling of the situation and the fact that it is taking so long to arrive at a decision has caused frustration among employees.

"Those inside the club who want Greenwood to return," the report continues, "take the view that he remains a young man and that there is a duty of care towards a player who has been at United since he was a child and has not been found guilty of anything unlawful."
