Manchester United's deal to potentially sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is still very much on and developing positively, according to recent reports.

On August 4, Turkish media began reporting that the Red Devils had lodged an official bid for the Turkish shot-stopper. There didn't appear to be too much to those reports as the links between Bayindir and United grew cold afterwards.

It seemed as though United had, at best, tested the water regarding a move. Two weeks later, however, it is clear that the initial reporting was correct. Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his Twitter account that the deal is still very much on, while David Ornstein of The Athletic is reporting that Bayindir is currently in Greece undergoing a so-called pre-medical.

United are carrying out provisional examinations regarding a back problem to see whether or not there is any significant risk of him aggravating the issue should they end up signing him.

Deal depends on Henderson

Both Romano and Ornstein are reporting, however, that any deal is contingent on the departure of Man Utd academy graduate Dean Henderson. The 26-year-old has long since been linked with a move away, but nothing has as yet materialised on that front.

While Nottingham Forest had been very keen on signing him permanently after a successful loan last season, they ultimately ended up swooping in for Arsenal back-up Matt Turner. In recent days, Crystal Palace have emerged as Henderson's most likely destination.

Should Henderson depart and Bayindir arrive, it is all but guaranteed to be an excellent piece of business by United as the Turkey international reportedly has a release clause worth just a measly €6 million, about half of his current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV).

Moreover, according to data experts SciSports, the 25-year-old is a proficient ball-playing goalkeeper who has the potential to reach a similar level to Henderson, making him an ideal backup option to Andre Onana.
