Has Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe just hinted that his future lies at Chelsea and not Real Madrid? That’s what the Spanish media fear following a post the World Cup winner made to his Instagram stories.

Mbappe has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid for years, but over the summer transfer window, these rumours have jumped to another level with the attacker clashing with PSG over his contract.

The superstar has refused to take up the option of extending his deal at Parc des Princes to 2025 and, as such, could leave on a free transfer next summer.

PSG believe that Mbappe already has an agreement in place with Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who have been content to sit tight this summer and not make a transfer bid, despite the invitation of the Ligue 1 champions to do so.

The certainty that Mbappe is heading to Spain is not reflected by AS following what they fear is a cryptic message from the player over his future.

Mbappe posted a screenshot from his phone that indicates he was listening to ‘Special’ by Dave and Tiakola.

This has sent chills through the media because it contains the lyrics translated from French: “I am a Top Boy, an expensive signature like Moises Caicedo in London.”

Madrid’s Mbappe trust issues

Big-spending Chelsea are indeed a potential destination for Mbappe due to their financial power, while a reunion with former PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is not necessarily something that Mbappe would be against. The Blues’ lack of competitiveness in the Premier League and the Champions League certainly rules out a move for now.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been stung by Mbappe before. They felt he was likely to join the club last summer as a free agent only for the player to instead commit to PSG and Los Blancos fear another such disappointment with the 24-year-old once again within reach.
