A story made for Hollywood! Wrexham fight back to tie incredible 10-GOAL thriller

Wrexham continue to make the headlines in League Two as the Welsh club snatched a draw from Swindon Town in a match that could have come straight off a Hollywood underdog movie script.

Acting duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney fired Wrexham to prominence in 2020 when they purchased the team in a shock joint-venture.

The takeover had an immediate effect on the Red Dragons both on and off the field, and they clinched promotion back to League Two in May 2023 after 15 years adrift in non-league football.

While early results back in the fourth tier of English football have been mixed, Wrexham have not failed to supply plenty of entertainment, scoring eight goals and conceding eight as they took four points from their opening four games - and without star striker Paul Mullin, currently recovering from injury.

But that was only a taste of the excitement that was to come on Saturday.

The home side were run ragged by Swindon in the first half and went into the break 4-1 down.

And while Elliott Lee and James Jones brought them to within a goal during the second half, the visitors struck again to make it 5-3 going into injury time.

There was time for one more twist, though: Jones hit his second of the afternoon before Lee converted a 96th-minute penalty, ensuring a share of the points in a 10-goal thriller.

Both Reynolds and McElhenney were thrilled by the spirit shown by their charges, with whom they have struck up a close, warm relationship on their visits to north Wales.

"Never. Ever. Ever. Leave a Wrexham game," the star of hit TV show It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia warned on Twitter, before adding: "This team and this town will never ever give up. All heart all the time."

Reynolds also took to the social media site to send a similar message: "So much heart. #NeverLeaveAWrexhamMatchEarly".

Wrexham will be hoping to tighten up their defence as the season progresses, as they seek a second straight promotion following last term's thrilling ascent to the EFL.

But in the meantime, their games will continue to be required watching - and if nothing else there will be plenty of content for season two of the documentary series!
