Noam Emeran starred as Manchester United put relegated Leeds to the sword in their first pre-season friendly.

The French attacker was involved in both goals in Oslo and has caught the attention of the United fanbase, with some calling for him to become a regular part of the first team as he is apparently already better than Jadon Sancho and Antony, according to some overexcited supporters.

But who is Noam Emeran and how good is he really?

Noam Emeran is a tricky, left-footed winger who can play on either flank but prefers the left side.

How good is Emeran?

Born in France and with roots in Guadeloupe and Rwanda, Emeran began his footballing career in Belgium before eventually ending up in the youth system of then-Ligue 1 side Amiens. There, he impressed and caught the attention of several European giants.

After lengthy negotiations, he joined Manchester United in 2019 as a 16-year-old. He featured for the senior squad in a friendly with Real Betis last term, but he mostly played in Premier League 2, scoring five goals in 2022/23.

At 20 years of age, Emeran will hope that the upcoming one is his breakout season and he certainly started in style. He has been training with Erik ten Hag's first team since the beginning of pre-season and was a second-half substitute in the Red Devils' first friendly against Leeds.

Featuring at right-wing, Emeran was played in behind the defence in the 67th minute and opened the scoring with a composed finish. He then set up fellow youngster Joe Hugill to put the game to bed.

Not only was Emeran productive, he also pulled off a couple of nice tricks and flicks that got the crowd excited. Whether the 179 cm (5 ft 10 in) wide forward is good enough to consistently feature for the first team is up for Ten Hag to decide, but he certainly caught the eye against Leeds.

What clubs are interested in Emeran?

When he was a teenager at Amiens, Emeran was being courted by Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. Four years later, and with little senior football under his belt, his next club will be a bit more modest, however. Championship sides Coventry and Sunderland are said to be interested in loaning the United youngster, as are Anderlecht, Strasbourg and Vitesse.
