EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin eyed by Saudi Arabia
Allan Saint-Maximin is being looked at by clubs in Saudi Arabia but is so far not convinced.
We are told that the Frenchman, who has an emotional connection to Newcastle, is however also open to offers, as are the club.
The Frenchman, who is on a €4.5million salary, has a desire to find a club in the Serie A if he was to leave Newcastle this window. Indeed, Saudi Arabia has been mooted as an option, with approaches made, but so far the player is not willing to make the move to a Pro League side.
Newcastle are looking at a right-sided centre-back. As we exclusively revealed, Newcastle had made an approach for Joachim Andersen, who they believe can deputise Fabian Schar next season. They have been put off by Crystal Palace’s asking price, however.
Monaco’s Axel Disasi has been linked by various reports. Sources in France told us last month how the defender has been constantly pushing for a Premier League move - particularly wanting a position at Manchester United. A lot of the noise around his future has previously come from the player’s side.
Eddie Howe talks up Sandro Tonali
Sandro Tonali joined Newcastle last week. The Italian is the club’s second most expensive player ever, costing £55million from AC Milan. And Eddie Howe has spoken in depth about his first signing of the window.
“I think he’s a high-level player,” he said. “He’s got some great experiences already for such a young player. He’s won the Italian league, this season got to the Champions League semi-final, full Italian international. He brings a wealth of pedigree. “I think he’s also a player of huge potential because I think his best years are ahead of him as well.
“I think he’s got versatility in his game so I think he can play various roles for us. We’ll wait and see, as we work with him more, where he fits into what we do.
“But I think we’re bringing a top player into the group and I’m delighted to add that competition a depth that we’re going to need next season.”
