Il Romanista journalist Andrea Di Carlo explained to the Italian Football Podcast that Dybala has two release clauses in his Roma contract.

The first release clause stands at just €12 million and is valid for foreign clubs only.

The second release clause is €20m and is valid for Serie A teams only.

If these clauses are met then Roma have no power in stopping Dybala from leaving.

However, Di Carlo explains that these release clauses expire on July 31.

That means that if Chelsea do not make a move by the end of the month, Dybala’s price tag will skyrocket.

Di Carlo adds that he expects Dybala to stay at Roma, nonetheless, even if an offer comes in from Chelsea before then.

Dybala doesn’t want Premier League

Dybala has rejected a transfer to the Premier League in the past.

Man Utd famously came close to signing Dybala in the summer of 2019 in a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku, only for the Argentina to reject the move.

Dybala also rejected a transfer that summer to Tottenham, who at the time were managed by Pochettino.

Dybala signed for Roma on a free transfer last summer on a three-year deal until 2025.

Dybala's contract is worth €4.5 million per season with another €1.5m per season in add-ons. There is the option for a fourth year, also.

The Argentine had been a free agent since leaving Juventus at the end of his contract in June 2022, with the breakup being acrimonious after the Bianconeri went back on a previous gentleman’s agreement to extend his deal.

Dybala was Roma’s star player in his first season, scoring 18 goals and delivering seven assists in all competitions from 29 starts.
