After almost three months of twists, turns, drama and chaos, the 2026 summer transfer window has now closed in Europe’s major leagues.

Spending reached record levels in England, to the tune of €4.07billion (£3.49bn), while La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 also got in on the act.

Meanwhile, managers now know exactly what they have got to work with until the transfer market re-opens in January 2027.

Here, FootballTransfers takes a quick look at the 10 most expensive signings that took place in the 2026 summer transfer window.

10. Bruno Guimaraes (Arsenal - €87.5m/£75.1m)

After a period of smoke and mirrors from all parties involved, Arsenal and Newcastle United eventually agreed a deal for Bruno Guimaraes.

Regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, the Brazil international offers excellent cover for the effervescent Declan Rice.

9. Savio (Tottenham Hotspur - €87.7m/£75.2m)

In one of the surprise transfers of the summer, Tottenham Hotspur splashed the cash on Savio from Premier League counterparts Manchester City.

The winger adds depth to Spurs’ wide options but the price tag raised one or two eyebrows, with the Brazilian having scored two league goals in the last two seasons.

8. Ayyoub Bouaddi (Manchester City - €95m/£81.5m)

After selling Rodri to Barcelona in the 19th most expensive signing of the summer (€60m/£51.4m), Man City signed Ayyoub Bouaddi as his replacement.

Just 18 years old, the elegant Bouaddi enhanced his burgeoning reputation by starring for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

7. Mateus Fernandes (Tottenham Hotspur - €99m/£84.9m)

Tottenham fought off competition from Manchester United to sign Mateus Fernandes from Championship side West Ham United.

The 22-year-old sparked in an otherwise difficult 2025-26 season for the relegated Hammers, proving to be their best midfielder since Rice.

6. Sandro Tonali (Tottenham Hotspur - €108m/£92.7m)

Tottenham strengthened their midfield once again when signing Italy international Sandro Tonali from Newcastle in a big-money transfer.

The 26-year-old formed one of the most imposing midfield partnerships in the Premier League alongside Guimaraes and Joelinton at Newcastle.

5. Yan Diomande (Real Madrid - €125m/£107.2m)

Real Madrid won the race to sign Yan Diomande after the Ivory Coast winger had also attracted interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

A two-footed dribbler who is comfortable playing on either flank, Diomande injects pace into a Real side who are now managed by Jose Mourinho.

4. Bradley Barcola (Liverpool - €125m/£107.2m)

After missing out on Diomande, Liverpool honed in on signing France international Bradley Barcola from French heavyweights PSG.

Known for his blistering pace, the 23-year-old helped PSG win successive Champions League titles in 2025 and 2026 under Luis Enrique.

3. Elliot Anderson (Manchester City - €135m/£116m)

Having caught the eye for Nottingham Forest last season, England midfielder Elliot Anderson secured a big move to Manchester City.

Comfortable operating as a No. 6 and a No. 8, Anderson played a huge role in keeping Forest in the Premier League last season.

2. Morgan Rogers (Chelsea - €138m/£117m)

Chelsea set a new transfer record for an English player when signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for €137m (£117m).

Rogers was one of the heroes of Villa's Europa League triumph last season, scoring the last goal in the 3-0 win over SC Freiburg in the final.

1. Enzo Fernandez (Man City - €145m/£125m)

And the most expensive signing of the 2026 summer transfer window saw Enzo Fernandez secure a late, late move from Chelsea to Man City.

The Argentina international has developed a reputation as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since moving to England from Benfica in 2023.
