Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has opened the door for Manchester United to make a move for Rasmus Hojlund.

The executive spoke to the media in the midst of rumours surrounding the future of the youngster.

Man Utd are keen on the 20-year-old and it’s thought that the side are weighing up an offer this week.

Meanwhile, players such as Giorgio Scalvini and Teun Koopmeiners are also being monitored by some elite clubs around Europe.

Percassi told Sky Italia: “They are players we want to keep and they have a solid bond with Atalanta,” the Atalanta CEO told Sky Sport Italia.

“Of course, we know the market and the target is always to strengthen the team. In the past, we achieved that also through sales. Most importantly, we want to keep players who want to be protagonists with Atalanta.”

Hojlund joined Atalanta for €17million from Strum Graz last summer. In his inaugural campaign, he scored 10 goals in 34 appearances.

His contract expires in June 2027 and it’s believed that he wants a move away.

Last season, Atalanta qualified for Europa League under veteran coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

“He is a great coach and his stay is the starting point of the new season,” said Percassi.

“As of today, the team has been completed, but the market is very long. I agree with Gasperini that if the transfer window closed on July 31, teams would work with more serenity.

“We always want to improve and the return to Europe is meaningful. Gasp has always been great and never told us which players he wanted. We are talking about roles, not specific names.”

As well as Hojlund, Erik ten Hag wants another forward - there is a feeling Harry Kane could be given a go again, but it’s not a deal that would be struck anytime soon. And Bayern Munich are lurking for the England captain as well.
