Lucas Hernandez’s imminent transfer from Bayern Munich to PSG spells more bad news for Manchester United in the transfer market.

Lucas is on the brink of completing a move to the French giants, according to numerous sources.

The centre back, who can also play at left back, has already agreed personal terms with PSG on a contract until 2028.

Bayern had initially planned to keep him but with his contract expiring in 2024 have opted to cash in.

A deal is now in its advanced stages and should be finalised in the coming days.

As a result of this transfer, Bayern will replace Lucas with Napoli centre back Kim Min-Jae.

Bayern had already moved into the lead to sign Kim ahead of Man Utd, but will now accelerate to finalise the transfer.

Manchester United had been red hot favourites to sign Kim this summer.

The South Korean had long since agreed personal terms with United but the chaos over the ownership situation at Old Trafford delayed negotiations

This allowed Bayern to move ahead of Man Utd, and Lucas’ imminent departure is the final nail in the coffin.

Bayern will pay Kim’s release clause next week to finalise the deal, with a five-year contract agreed with the player.

What is Kim Min-Jae’s release clause?

Kim has a minimum fee release clause in his contract of around €50 million, valid for the first two weeks in July, which makes Napoli powerless to let him go.

Attempts by Napoli to give Kim a new contract and remove the clause have proved fruitless.

Min-Jae has been an absolute revelation since joining Napoli from Fenerbahce for €18m last summer, helping the club to their first Scudetto in 33 years.

He was signed as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who left after eight years to join Chelsea, but Kim has been magnificent at the heart of Napoli’s defence.

According to Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti, Kim is now the best in the world in his role.

“Kim does at least 20 incredible things per game, for me he truly is the best centre-back in the world,” Spalletti said after Napoli’s 2-0 win over Atalanta in March.

United have missed out on a host of top targets this summer, and fans are already getting restless at the lack of incoming players.
