Liverpool have sensationally prepared a €300 million bid for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, according to Marca.

The rather unbelievable report on Wednesday claims that the Reds are ready to pay €250m plus €50m in add-ons to sign the France attacker.

This would make Mbappe the most expensive player in football history, blowing away the current world record of Neymar.

Neymar famously signed for PSG from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222m. In the same summer, PSG also signed Mbappe from Monaco for a fee that would reach €180m.

That makes Mbappe the second most expensive player of all time, but he could now become the number one if Marca are to be believed.

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, with Jurgen Klopp known to be a huge fan of the 24-year-old.

The attacker has also publicly praised the Reds and Klopp in the past.

Real Madrid favourites to sign Mbappe

However, a move to Liverpool would come as a big surprise as Mbappe is widely expected to join Real Madrid when he leaves PSG - possibly this summer.

Earlier this month, Mbappe told PSG that he doesn’t intend to trigger the option in his current contract - which expires in 2024 - of extending by a further year.

Mbappe notified PSG in a written letter, which immediately sparked reports that the attacker will make his long-expected transfer to Real Madrid this summer.

However, Mbappe has stressed that he will see out the final year of his PSG contract and will not leave in 2023.

According to the French media, PSG plan to sell Mbappe this summer unless he activates the option to extend. This is to prevent them from losing him on a free transfer next year.

Madrid have already bought Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in a €100m-plus deal but are able to finance Mbappe’s transfer also this summer.

Mbappe had seemed destined to join Real Madrid last summer but completed a dramatic turnaround by penning a two-year extension with PSG at the end of May 2022.
