Liverpool could make a shock move for Federico Chiesa, according to Italian media.

The Reds are in the midst of something of a rebuild as Jurgen Klopp and new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke try to form a team that can get back to challenging for the Premier League again.

While most of the focus has been on a midfield that needs strengthening following the departures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita and the defence for which Klopp wants to bring in a young, left-footed centre-back, Liverpool could also look to bolster their offensive ranks.

Indeed, Darwin Nunez didn't quite live up to the hype in his first season at Anfield and Luis Diaz had a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, so Liverpool's attack wasn't firing on all cylinders. With Roberto Firmino leaving the club, there is an open spot that needs filling.

According to Italian media, Liverpool may already have found the man to reinforce their attack.

Chiesa on the market?

The man in question could be Federico Chiesa, claims Gazzetta dello Sport. With his contract up in 2025 and the club in need to raise funds after missing out on the Champions League, Juventus could look to cash in on the 2021 European champion.

Klopp is said to be a big admirer of the Italian and the Reds are "ready to put real money on the table." Juventus reportedly value Chiesa at around €60 million.

However, given the fact that he struggled a lot with niggling injuries last season that saw him rack up fewer than 10 goal contributions, our in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) algorithm puts his current stock at just €30.6m.

Chelsea and Bayern are also believed to be interested in Chiesa, while Paris Saint-Germain could yet join the ranks of potential suitors, according to Gazzetta. The winger recently scored the decisive goal in Italy's 3-2 victory over Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk and the Netherlands.
