Real Madrid are ready to pay the €100 million clause in Alejandro Garnacho’s new Manchester United contract.

According to a number of reports in Spain, as relayed by CaughtOffside, Garnacho will have a €100m release clause in his soon-to-be-signed Man Utd contract.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed earlier this year that Garnacho has agreed a new deal with United to extend his contract that expires in 2024. The deal will be announced officially soon.

But Spanish media claim that Madrid will pounce to pay the €100m clause to bring Garnacho to the Bernabeu.

Garnacho left Atletico as a 16-year-old in 2020 to join Man Utd’s academy for a fee of €500,000.

Garnacho’s breakout

The teenage winger has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this season, making eight goal contributions from 10 starts and 29 appearances.

He scored his first senior Man Utd goal on November 3 with the winner against Real Sociedad in the Europa League in the Basque Country. This made him the youngest foreign player to ever score for Man Utd in European competition.

Then, days later, he delivered two assists as Man Utd beat Aston Villa 4-2 in the EFL Cup. This made him the youngest player to have two assists in a match for Man Utd.

And he capped it all off the next week by scoring his first ever Premier League goal, with the winner clinching a crucial three points against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Garnacho also starred in the Manchester derby, assisting Marcus Rashford’s winner in the 2-1 victory over Man City.

His most recent goals were in the wins over Leeds and West Ham in 2023.

He has not played since March 12 due to injury.
