Barcelona suffered a painful defeat in the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid on Wednesday, but they would not have expected to be trolled by one of Manchester United’s brightest up-and-coming stars in the aftermath.

LaLiga’s runaway leaders held a 1-0 advantage going into the match following the Bernabeu leg of the tie but were blown away 4-0, with Vini Jr’s goal on the stroke of half-time opening the floodgates for Los Blancos to record a historic victory.

In the second half of the game, Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick to secure Madrid’s place in the final – and the score could have been more severe.

Man Utd starlet Alejandro Garnacho certainly took pleasure in the outcome.

Vini Junior posted: “Comeback and final = Real Madrid.”

Garnacho, who was not part of the Man Utd squad that beat Brentford 1-0, simply replied: “Normal.”

This is not even the first time that the Madrid-born attacker has trolled Barcelona on his social media accounts.

Following Manchester United’s Europa League success over the Catalan side, Garnacho took to Twitter to post: “The big team goes to the next round.”

Having posted in Spanish, it was clear who his message was directed at.

Garnacho’s Spanish roots

The 18-year-old may play his international football for Argentina but was born in Madrid and it is clear where his club loyalties lie in the country of his birth.

Indeed, it appears to matter little that he played five years in Atletico Madrid’s youth system – Garnacho is clearly a big supporter of Real Madrid.

The teenager, meanwhile, is one of the brightest young talents coming through at any club in the Premier League, having played 32 matches for the Red Devils this season, returning five goals and six assists.

If Real Madrid came calling, though, it could prove a test of Garnacho’s loyalty to Man Utd.
