Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund has become one of the most wanted players on the transfer market ahead of the summer, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid all chasing the 20-year-old forward.

All three clubs are in the market for a centre forward. Man Utd and Arsenal are both lacking in that area presently, particularly the Old Trafford side, who are using Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley as a stop-gap option, while Real Madrid will soon need to recruit in that area given Karim Benzema’s age.

On top of these three European giants, there is also strong interest from within Serie A, with Juventus, Inter, Milan and Napoli among the teams credited with following the player very closely.

PROFILE: Who is Rasmus Hojlund?

Hojlund, meanwhile, has elbowed himself to the front of the debates thanks to a strong run of form early in 2023. Having debuted with Atalanta in September last year following a transfer from Sturm Graz, the Denmark international has put together a very tidy campaign, scoring 14 goals and creating five more in 33 appearances.

Moreover, the player’s eye-catching speed and power have helped to have him labelled as the ‘new Erling Haaland’.

Furthermore, strong form in the international break has only helped to lift his profile, with Hojlund the early pace setter in Euro 2024 qualifiers in terms of goals, having netted a hat-trick against Finland and then a double against Kazakhstan.

What is Rasmus Hojlund’s asking price?

According to Fichajes, Atalanta hope to recoup around €40 million for a player they signed for just €17.2m last summer.

This figure is above Hojlund’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €19.5m, but this figure has been rising significantly month on month since his move to Italy and will not seem outlandish should he continue his strong form until the end of the season. Indeed, at that point it might be starting to look very reasonable indeed.
