Chelsea are under serious pressure after a run of poor form over the last few weeks, and it was added to by their defeat to Tottenham at the weekend.

The Blues sit in 10th and qualification for the Champions League next season looks incredibly unlikely after a bad run of results.

They are also on the verge of exit in the Champions League after losing the first leg of their last 16 tie to Borussia Dortmund 1-0, with the Blues having a mountain to climb at Stamford Bridge.

Now, they have made a decision on Potter’s future should they lose their next game against Leeds and crash out of Europe.

Chelsea plan to back Potter

Chelsea plan to stick with Potter even if they lose to Leeds at the weekend and fail to get past Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Todd Boehly and his management have been confident in their backing of the manager, who they only appointed in September following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

They believe Potter can turn things around and although this season may not go to plan, he will be able to turn things around with a full pre-season.

Despite all the signings they made in the January transfer window - including that of World Cup star Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk - they have struggled in front of goal having scored just four times in 2023.

That has been a serious problem for this side that has left them languishing in mid-table and led to questions over the manager.

There had also been reports that senior members in the squad had lost faith in the manager and that they were uncertain he could turn things around.

Last week, Potter revealed that Chelsea’s bad results had taken a toll and that he and his family had been receiving death threats, something condemned by the club and its supporters groups.
