Gabriele Biancheri appears to be getting closer to a switch from Manchester United from Cardiff City.
The 16-year-old forward has been playing for the Bluebirds’ youth side setup but now looks set to make a move to Old Trafford. At the U16s level for the Welsh club, he scored 17 goals in 11 matches - while this term, he’s hit seven goals in 12 games.
Such form has made Man Utd stand up and take notice.
The move has been rumbling on for some time but it was this week that Fabrizio Romano tweeted out: "Manchester United are set to complete the signing of young talent 2006-born striker Gabriele Biancheri from Cardiff City. Understand it’s 4 year pro contract now completed, just waiting for Fifa approval to finalise the deal."
How good is Biancheri?
Very good. But of course, we’re talking about a 16-year-old. Unless the club have stumbled across the next Wayne Rooney, it will be a season or so until we can expect to see him at the top level.
MEN reports that he will become a scholar at the club initially, before going on to sign a long-term professional contract in September when he turns 17.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have been handed chances under Ten Hag, who vied for the player’s signature, so it’s likely that he won’t be frozen out for huge number of years to come.

Wales have introduced him into their national team set-up and he has been capped on three occasions for the Welsh U17s side.
