Arsenal are the favourites to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as the Serbian looks to leave the Rome club after the end of the season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the 27-year-old is eager for new challenges and is looking at his last few months at Lazio as he looks to leave the club.

Milinkovic-Savic has been linked to several moves in the past but nothing concrete came of it, however, that could change this summer.

Now, it’s emerged that Arsenal are the frontrunners for his signature as they plot a summer move for the player in the hope of improving their own squad.

Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have got themselves in a position to compete for the biggest titles and they want to continue adding top talents to their side.

Milinkovic-Savic has two years left on his deal with Lazio and the source claims the Serb has already made up his mind to leave the club at the end of the season.

Arsenal have been in the market for a midfielder, looking to sign Moises Caicedo in January before that was turned down, and they ended up signing Jorginho on a short-term deal.

Now, in the summer, they could be looking to sign a more long-term option and Milinkovic-Savic could well be that player for the Gunners.

Lazio want a 'fair price' for their star man and a fee of €50m-€60 million is reported, and the player himself doesn't want to run down his contract to not cause damage to his club.

In the past, Manchester United had shown big interest in Milinkovic-Savic but never actually made a move for him as Lazio’s demands were too high.

Even last summer when Manchester United were unable to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, Milinkovic-Savic emerged as one of the top alternatives for them.

Should Arsenal land the midfielder from Lazio, Manchester United may just get a look at what they missed out on if the Serb is able to replicate his best form in the Premier League.
