According to The Telegraph, discussions have progressed well between Saka and the club and Arsenal want a positive end to those talks.

Arsenal planning ahead

Saka’s contract at Arsenal runs out at the end of the 2023-24 season and the Gunners plan to extend that for a long time.

It would see Saka become among the club’s highest-paid players in a deal to reflect his growing importance and stardom at Arsenal.

Saka has started every league game so far this season under Mikel Arteta and has played 65 consecutive league matches - a record for a top-flight player amongst the current lot.

Along with Saka, Arsenal are also planning talks with defender William Saliba, who has become a mainstay in the backline so far this season.

He has formed a solid partnership with Gabriel and that has spurred Arsenal to the top of the league table, which has been built on a strong defensive line.

Saliba was bought in 2019 but spent several seasons out on loan in Ligue 1, where he established himself as one of the league’s best, before doing the same in England this campaign.

All three of Martinelli, Saka and Saliba are 21-years-old and Arsenal have a solid core with them, with the aim to keep them together for the foreseeable future.
