Liverpool are leading the race to sign Napoli forward Hirving Lozano as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his side for the second half of the season.

Lozano has a contract at Napoli until the summer of 2024 but Napoli are open to offloading him as they are looking at new talents for their side.

The Mexican has attracted interest from various clubs in the past, including Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag a fan of the player.

However, it seems as though Liverpool are the frontrunners for Lozano’s signature and may make a move for him in the near future.

Liverpool were first linked to Lozano at the end of last season but no move for him materialized and he ended up staying at Napoli.

However, Klopp and his staff have still kept tabs on the player with a wish to sign him at some point in the near future, and feel a deal can be agreed at a reasonable fee.

Liverpool have struggled with their fair share of injury issues this season, with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota both suffering in this campaign, while Roberto Firmino’s future is unclear.

That could open the door for Lozano to move and earlier in the season, his agent admitted that a move to the Premier League is possible in the near future, despite reported interest from some La Liga clubs.

His former agent claimed Lozano would be open to a move to England and there is interest in him from the likes of Manchester United and fellow Premier League side Everton.

Lozano is one of Napoli’s highest earners and the club are open to letting him go as a result, with a view to investing elsewhere in the team if they can recoup a fair sum for the forward.
