Bruno Guimaraes has insisted he is only focused on Newcastle and the World Cup, amid speculation linking him to Real Madrid.

Guimaraes has been a revelation for Newcastle since joining from Lyon in January, scoring seven goals from midfield and establishing himself as one of the elite midfielders in the Premier League.

Recent reports have suggested that Real will make a move for him if they miss out on Jude Bellingham next summer but the Brazilian told Sky Sports that he feels at home in Newcastle.

"It's always nice when there are teams looking at you, but my plan is just to do my best at Newcastle," he said.

"The rest, I leave with my agent. I have three or four years of contract left. It's so long. I swear I'm not thinking about other things. My focus now is just on Newcastle and the World Cup.”

"I feel at home," Bruno added. "I think it was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, to change country, to change leagues, and in a World Cup year as well. It was a really hard decision, but I think it was the right one. I'm so happy. It's an amazing step. I feel like a Geordie now.

Bruno: I want to become Toon legend

Guimaraes has revolutionised his game since moving to the Premier League, scoring more goals at Newcastle than he had done throughout his whole career previously and he has drawn plaudits who have described him as one of the most complete and in-form midfielders in the world.

"For sure, it's always a pleasure to hear things like that," Bruno said. "It is one more motivation, but this is only my first full season at Newcastle. There is a long way to go. I love playing here, I love to bond with the fans, and I want to become a legend here."

He added: ”I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League but, honestly, I never thought it could be this good. I'm proud of what I'm doing, of myself and of the club, but it was a difficult choice.”

"I think I was born to play in the Premier League. I love the atmosphere. I love the intensity of the game. It is the most difficult league, of course. There are no easy games. But when you play well here, it makes you think you can play in any competition."
