Arsenal will give young stars Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli new contracts, manager Mikel Arteta pledged ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt.

The three players have had leading roles as the Gunners have shot to the top of the Premier League off the back of seven wins in eight matches this season. Indeed, they have provided a foundation for the club’s success going forward, and Arteta wants to make sure they do not lose that.

All three players have contracts that run until the end of June, 2024, making them vulnerable to depart next summer if new deals have not been agreed by then.

The manager says, though, that technical director Edu has put plans in place to ensure the trio remain at the club in the long term.

“We have to plan for the future and we are all working on it,” Arteta said when asked about the trio. "Obviously Edu is on top of it and all the board.

“I will try to do things in the right way: being fair and trying to plan the best possible way and reward the players that in our opinion who have a big future for the club.

“When we have something to announce, we will do it.”

However, if all three were to sign new contracts with Arsenal, they would see their values rise significantly.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are in a strong position with their contracts overall. Reiss Nelson and Mohamed Elneny’s deals are both up in June, which means they will become free agents if nothing changes, while the only other players who have contracts up in 2024 are Cedric Soares and Rob Holding.
