Manchester United once more grabbed all the headlines on Friday, finally completing one deal while also being linked with a sensational sale to one of their Premier League rivals.

Man Utd reach Casemiro agreement

After so many disappointments and setbacks the Red Devils for once had something to celebrate on Friday night as they reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the purchase of Casemiro.

The Brazilian will add much-needed class to their midfield, and comes as a welcome addition following failed approaches for the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot.

Maguire heading to Chelsea?

At the same time, United captain Harry Maguire could be heading away from Old Trafford after three mixed years.

Chelsea are said to be interested in the oft-maligned centre-back and could angle to include him in any deal which sees Christian Pulisic head the other way, although much depends on their ongoing negotiations over Wesley Fofana.

Forest outspend European giants

It’s official: by signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves for €50 million (£42.5 million) on Friday, Nottingham Forest became the second biggest spenders of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Only Chelsea – a giant under reconstruction following a complicated summer takeover – have made a bigger net spend than the Premier League newcomers.

The good news just keeps coming for United. Hot on the heels of Casemiro's imminent rival came word that PSV youngster Cody Gakpo was one step away from signing for the club.

United will submit a formal approach for the 23-year-old and are expected to complete a deal.

Chelsea submit formal offer for Aubameyang

Chelsea have officially submitted an offer for Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Thomas Tuchel looks to be reunited with his former Borussia Dortmund pupil.

Aubameyang, 31, joined Barcelona from Arsenal on a free transfer in January, but the Blaugrana are open to selling the Gabon international after landing number one summer target Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
