Manchester United's summer transfer window is finally heating up, with more good news allegedly right on the way.

The Red Devils have toiled in the markets over the past two months, failing to land many of their top targets while also starting the 2022-23 with two straight defeats to fall to the bottom of the Premier League.

As the window inches towards closing, though, things are finally looking up for Erik ten Hag and his beleaguered charges.

Casemiro is expected to arrive at United soon to complete a £60 million transfer from Real Madrid, boosting the team in the problem area of midfield.

With the Brazilian all but on board, the Reds' next priority will be further up the field.

And after Ajax rejected an offer for winger Antony they have turned to the Dutch club's rivals.

The Telegraph reports that United will submit a formal approach for PSV's Cody Gakpo and are expected to complete a deal for the 23-year-old.

Gakpo is available for around £34m, roughly half the value of United's last bid for Antony which was rejected, though PSV's involvement in the qualifying stages for the Champions League - they take on Rangers next week - complicates matters somewhat.

The Premier League side may have to wait until that second leg has been played, but are confident that PSV will still be willing to sell whether or not they make it to the group stage of the European competition.

Gakpo is a hometown hero at his club, having grown up in Eindhoven and joined their academy at the age of eight.

To date he has played 141 games for PSV in all competitions, scoring 45 goals, and has also made a strong start to the current season with three goals in the club's first six outings.
