Jesus, Di Maria and the summer signings who have impressed so far

The 2022-23 season is still in its infancy, but there have still been a few impressive performers at the start of the campaign, with many of them being new signings.
Clubs across Europe have made deals worth over €3.2 billion, and some of those new signings have hit the ground running immediately, with a few making amends from their spells at previous clubs.
From world stars to those with a point to prove, here are the five players who have had an immediate impact in their new colours and will hope to keep their form going for the rest of the season.

Which summer signings have impressed so far?
The Norwegian forward completed one of the summer’s most anticipated moves early in the window, and expectations were high around him for his time at Manchester City.
Haaland had a tough start in the Community Shield against Liverpool, but made amends with a brilliant Premier League debut, netting twice against West Ham.
Things weren’t quite as rosy in City’s second league game against Bournemouth as he could barely get involved, but he still managed to pick up an assist for Ilkay Gundogan’s goal.

Arsenal have been longing for a consistent number nine who could make a difference from the front, and they seem to have got that in the form of Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazilian moved for a big fee from Manchester City, and despite not scoring against Crystal Palace on his debut, he was still impactful.
In his second match against Leicester, he netted twice in what was his home league debut and announced himself as Arsenal’s core goalscorer.
Angel Di Maria
Di Maria is now 34 and approaching the final years of his career, but he’s still an excellent footballer and he showed that for Juventus in his debut.
The Bianconeri started the season against Sassuolo at home and the Argentine made an immediate impact, scoring with a volley after just 26 minutes.
He also linked up well with Dusan Vlahovic, who scored the other two goals in a 3-0 win, and is hoping the injury he sustained isn’t too serious.
Lukaku had a turbulent time at Chelsea and his return to Stamford Bridge didn’t go as planned, but his return to Inter got off to the best possible start.
All eyes were on the Belgian as he made his first start in Inter’s opening Serie A game against Lecce, and it took him just two minutes to score.
The forward was at the end of Matteo Darmian’s pull-back from a cross and headed into an empty net, contributing to Inter’s win and feeling as though he never left.

Like Lukaku, Werner is another forward often criticized for his time at Chelsea and he too made a return to his former club in the hope of reigniting his career.
He didn’t take long to make an impact either, scoring from a long-range effort in the first-half of RB Leipzig’s 2-2 draw with Koln.
It took some help from the goalkeeper, but the goal will do wonders for Werner’s confidence, as he looks to add to his tally as Leipzig’s all-time top goalscorer.
