Cristiano Ronaldo: Marseille transfer stance revealed amid new rumours

Marseille have denied that they have any intention of signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer following a report on social media.
Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini created a buzz with a report that suggested the Ligue 1 side were in the process of engineering a move.
He tweeted: “Contact between Marseille and Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.”

Ronaldo, meanwhile, has been the subject of speculation over recent weeks by Marseille supporters, who had #RonaldOM trend on Twitter as the Manchester United star was turned down by club after club.
This has been ongoing throughout the summer months, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner politely knocked back by Dortmund n Friday after rumours re-emerged that they might be interested in signing the legendary forward.
Ronaldo was discussed internally at Marseille
Marseille have now joined the ranks of teams that have distanced themselves from Ronaldo, saying they have “no interest” in bringing him to Stade Velodrome, according to a report from RMC.
Nevertheless, it does seem to have been a rumour that has made those at Marseille dream.
“The Cristiano Ronaldo idea even invited itself into some discussions within the club, more out of curiosity than out of real interest in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner,” it is reported.
Indeed, OM do not have space in their squad for the forward and are indeed trying to shed players from that area of their side, with Arkadiusz Milik linked with a move to Juventus if their deal for Memphis Depay breaks down, while Bamba Dieng has been associated with Leeds United in the Premier League.
Beyond that, Ronaldo’s wage demands would realistically be far too much for Marseille to cope with, even taking into account that he is willing to slash his current Manchester United salary by 30%.
