Will Chelsea make more signings after Wesley Fofana?

Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, but manager Thomas Tuchel has asked for his club to not stop there.
The Blues have already been busy this year, signing the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella, amongst others, and are already the summer’s biggest spenders out of any team in Europe.
New owner Todd Boehly has showed his intent in his first summer transfer window, spending big on defensive signings, with Fofana set to become one of the most expensive defenders ever.
Now, though, Tuchel wants Chelsea to invest elsewhere, and Boehly may have to spend even further to get his team ready for the rest of the campaign and keep the manager happy.

Chelsea have been targeting players like Everton’s Anthony Gordon and Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Tuchel has said he needs new signings before the transfer deadline.
“Right now I think we could need some more players in some positions,” Tuchel said as he prepared for the trip to Southampton on Tuesday.
“It’s very close to the end of the transfer window and when 1 September comes I will be a happy coach no matter what happens,” he continued.
Despite that, Tuchel has said he’ll find ways to work with his squad regardless of what he has: “I will try to find solutions and not think about what might have happened or what could be.”

Also, Chelsea are having reservations about signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang because of the financials involved.

Chelsea are working on a deal for Aubameyang, and are close to an agreement with Barcelona, with Tuchel keen to reunite with the forward having worked with him at Borussia Dortmund.
With Gordon, there have been big fees quoted, but Chelsea have been reluctant to meet Everton’s valuation of the player, which is set at around £60 million.
If the Blues do end up securing the two players, in addition to the signing of Fofana, this will be the most outlay by one club in a single transfer window, overtaking Real Madrid’s record set in 2019.
