Arsenal have already begun implementing their summer transfer business and have identified Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus as a major target.

The Brazilian has been in and out of the Man City team this season, starting just 17 games in the Premier League. However, he scored his third goal in just three games against Real Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final and has found form at the time transfer speculation has increased in volume.

Though he remains a valued player by Pep Guardiola, Jesus' contract expires in the summer of 2023 and so City could look to cash in on him while they still can.

Indeed, Guardiola recently insisted that Jesus was the best forward in the world when it came to implementing his pressing tactics.

“He’s a centre forward, he can play there, but when he is played wide he is more comfortable,” he said.

“We encourage him in central positions to be more open, to see the actions.

“He can play in the three positions up front, and when we need players who can help a lot, he’s the best in the world.

“(With him) we can be so aggressive, we can get extra rhythm for midfield players, can stay high.”

Jesus has been with Man City since the summer of 2017 when he joined from Palmeiras for €33 million.

He has never been a consistent goalscorer and has managed just 57 Premier League goals in his six campaigns in England.

Jesus did enjoy his best performance of the season on Saturday as he scored four goals at home as Man City destroyed Watford 5-1.

City only have one recognised senior striker at the moment and that is Jesus, though he has often still been down the pecking order at the Etihad. Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne have all been used through the middle instead of Jesus at times this campaign, due to goal-scoring form that saw him fail to hit the back of the net in a Premier League game between October and March.

Man City have already confirmed the acquisition of Julian Alvarez, and could add even more firepower to their ranks if they sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, which has been heavily linked recently.

Should the Norwegian arrive, Jesus could be moved on.

What is Jesus' transfer value?

It is believed that Man City could ask for €35m from any potential suitors.

However, FootballTransfers values Jesus at €50m.
