Liverpool are the latest Premier League club to be associated with a transfer for Torino star Bremer, who is also wanted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has been a standout in Serie A, and it comes as little surprise to see him linked with a string of major clubs.

With a contract that runs until 2024, Torino are under little time pressure to sell, but with Premier League clubs now queuing up to sign him, they may feel the time is ripe for a transfer.

Inter, meanwhile, are widely reported to be leading the race.

Bremer has been highly-rated for a while, with the Brazilian heavily linked with a move to the Premier League last season. However, it is this season where he has truly exploded and demonstrated that he is certainly ready to join a big club.

The 25-year-old has not put a foot wrong for a mid-table Torino side that has the fifth best defensive record in Serie A. The centre back – who has been deployed in the middle of Ivan Juric’s back three – boasts every quality needed of a top central defender.

He has lightning pace, is strong, aggressive and competitive, and is superb in the air.

His statistics in Serie A this season are magnificent, as he leads the charts for a number of metrics.

Bremer’s explosion

According to InStat, Bremer has the most interceptions in Serie A with 280. In second place is Verona’s Koray Gunter with 268 but you then have to go down to 228 interceptions for third-placed Omar Colley of Sampdoria.

Bremer also has the most ball recoveries in the division by a mile. He has 386 ball recoveries, which is incredibly 83 more than the next highest in Italy – Jose Palomino of Atalanta.

Even more astonishing is that Bremer has the most ball recoveries in the opposition half in Serie A. Considering the fact he is a defender, this is remarkable and it illustrates just how good Bremer is at pressing high up the pitch and stealing the ball from the opposition. This is a trait that is perfect for aggressive teams with a high defensive line.

His competitive nature means he has challenged for more balls than anyone in Italy, and he is third in Serie A for aerial challenges won with 300. Above him are only Salernitana giant Milan Djuric and Sampdoria’s Morten Thorsby.

Naturally, Bremer is a threat in the opposition box and he has scored three goals this season in Serie A, in addition to five last term. This includes a memorable goal against Inter last month.

Most impressively, though, Bremer has shut down most of Serie A’s best strikers this season. He completely cancelled out Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic during the Turin derby in February, as well as Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Milan’s Olivier Giroud this month. He was man-of-the-match in all these games.

Quite simply, he is the best defender in Serie A right now and is ready to play for one of Europe’s best teams.
