Romelu Lukaku has endured a tough time back at Chelsea this season.

The Belgian was signed as the answer to Thomas Tuchel's attacking woes, but despite a promising start he hasn't lived up to expectations.

With just five Premier League goals to his name, Lukaku has been dropped from the starting XI in favour of Kai Havertz and with no league goals in 2022, Lukaku has been heavily linked with a move away.

Havertz's ability to link up play and press in a fluid front three with Timo Werner and Mason Mount has appealed to Tuchel, and the German head coach has clearly chosen his preferred options in forward areas.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move for Lukaku to end the nightmare that his second stint at Stamford Bridge has been.

His brief cameo against his former side Manchester United also yielded nothing from the ex-Inter star Lukaku, who was once again unable to get involved in the play and was far less influential that Havertz.

Lukaku was much-maligned during his spell at Old Trafford, which caused him to urge for a move away and seek solace in Antonio Conte's Inter side. However, while his time at Man Utd was heavily criticised, it's not comparable with his season at Chelsea this time around.

Lukaku at Chelsea vs Man Utd

Lukaku was utilised as far more of a first-choice option during his stint at Man Utd, but it still paints a poor picture on his current form.

He scored 44 goals during his Man Utd career, which averages out to 0.44 goals per game.

However, that statistic is far more damning for this year at Chelsea.

With just 12 goals, most of which have come in cup competitions, Lukaku is currently averaging 0.22 goals per game. He has featured far more off the bench, but given the chances he's been given it's an accurate representation of his struggles this season.
