Elliott is recognised as one of the brightest English prospects around, and has recently returned to action successfully after suffering a dislocated ankle earlier this season.

Liverpool lost Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer, but manager Jurgen Klopp had faith that Elliott could emerge as a suitable replacement despite his young age.

SciSports rates his potential at 102.7 which is much higher than any other player in the senior squad or youth sides under the age of 21.

Elliott is the only player who regularly features for the Liverpool senior squad who is under 21.

In the table above, the three highlighted names are the players with the most potential from the senior squad, the Under-23s squad, and the Under-18s squad respectively.

Potential of Liverpool Under 23 players

The player with the highest potential from the Under-23s squad is Billy Koumetio.

Born in Lyon, he was initially winger before being turned into a winger by his young coaches due to his height and physique. He was previously in the youth system at Lyon before joining US Orleans.

He was subsequently picked up by Liverpool and has already made his first term debut, in the Champions League no less, coming on as a substitute for Fabinho in a fixture versus FC Midtjylland.

In second is Max Woltman, who features as a centre-forward or attacking midfielder. Like Koumetio, he made his debut in the Champions League this season.

One name that will be recognisable is that of Kaide Gordon as he has made five appearances in total for the first team, with the majority of them coming in cup competitions.

Interestingly, one player from the Under-18s squad has more SciSports potential than all of the players in the Under-23s squad and that is Melkamu Frauendorf. The 18-year-old featured in the FA Cup this season and has a Potential Skill rating of 105.4.
