Arsenal's late push for a top four finish in the Premier League this season has impressed fans and critics alike and that has meant renewed interest in their star players from bigger clubs.

According to the Sunday Post, Spanish giants Real Madrid have taken a serious interest in full-back Kieran Tierney and may look to make a push for him in the summer transfer window.

The Scotland international defender, who is primarily a left-back but can also play in the centre of the defence or even as a right-back, has been a consistently strong performer for the Gunners since moving to the club from Celtic in 2019.

Despite impressive displays from Nuno Tavares when he was out injured, Tierney has returned to the fold for the Gunners as strong as ever. Indeed, he finished the win over Watford with the captain’s armband and there is a suggestion that this could be the natural progression in his career at the Emirates.

But that, of course, relies on him remaining at the club.

Real Madrid’s interest in the 24-year-old is steadily increasing. With Marcelo out of contract in the summer, the Spaniards are likely to need an additional left-back to provide competition to Ferland Mendy. Tierney would be a player who they seem to believe is capable of stepping up to that type of challenge.

How much is Kieran Tierney worth?

Arsenal signed Tierney for €27m from Celtic, when he was at something of a low ebb. Indeed, his estimated value at that time was only around €19m because of a season that was hampered by injury. These problems continued in his early weeks at Arsenal, but the club’s patience has been richly rewarded.

According to reports in England, Madrid are will to fork over €50m for the Arsenal defender, but that may not be enough to entice the English club into selling a key player.

Tierney’s valuation is now €56m, according to FootballTransfers, which uses a formula based on hundreds of in-game data points as well as external factors such as age and contract length.

This is down from a career high of €63m at the start of the season, which came after playing at Euro 2020 for Scotland and before another period when he would be troubled by injury issues.

If Real Madrid are to invest in Tierney, then, they will have to spend big on a man tipped to be Arsenal’s next captain.
