Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa are all facing a slightly frustrating end to the January transfer window as reported target Yves Bissouma will not be sold by Brighton.

Bissouma has been an excellent performer for Brighton over the past few seasons, with many elite clubs in the Premier League and abroad taking notice of his talents.

He has a contract with Brighton until the summer of 2023 and the three aforementioned clubs were hoping to take advantage of this to land the central midfielder for a discount fee.

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa bid £25 million for Bissouma on deadline day, but their efforts were rejected.

Brighton are holding out for £50m and and displaying the same resolve they showed in the summer when Arsenal were forced to pay a similar amount for Ben White.

Manchester United fans will be left what the club is up to in the transfer market as they have not yet completed a deal despite the troubles in the league.

Tottenham quickly turned their attentions to Rodrigo Bentancur of Juventus after the Bissouma deal looked unlikely.

What has Bissouma said about his future?

While Bissouma has been rather candid with his desire to play at a higher level in the future, he has also stated that he’s perfectly happy playing his football at the Falmer Stadium for now.

“The thing [that] is really important for me is to play football. I’m just happy when I play football,” he told MyAlbionTV in September.

“The rest, I have an agent, so it’s his job. I’m just focused on football. When you play football you have to go step by step. That’s what I’m trying to do.

“I didn’t go this summer, maybe it’s because it’s not my time to go. When my time will come, it’s my time, but I’m happy in Brighton, I’m happy to play football.”

“My dream is like every player, I want to play in the top league, [the] Champions League, I want to win the Champions [League], maybe if I can win the World Cup with my national team as well [laughs].”
