Bruno Fernandes earns almost three times less than Cristiano Ronaldo, prompting the attacking midfielder to put contract talks on hold.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Bruno is demanding parity with the club’s highest earners such as Ronaldo and David de Gea.

Bruno’s current contract at Man Utd doesn’t expire until 2025, with the club retaining an option to extend this by another year.

Man Utd wages: How much does each player earn?

Thus, there’s no massive rush on the part of the club to agree on a new contract but Fernandes is unhappy with his current wage.

How much does Bruno Fernandes earn?

Bruno earns €10.9m per year at Old Trafford. This makes him the club’s tenth highest-paid player.

Ronaldo is Man Utd’s best earner on €30m per season, almost three times more than what his countryman makes.

Bruno also makes around half the amount that De Gea (€22.6m) and Jadon Sancho (€21m) take home.

He also earns significantly less than Raphael Varane (€20m), Paul Pogba (€17.4m) and even Edinson Cavani (€15m).

Bruno also banks less than Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire, and only makes slightly more a year than fringe squad member Juan Mata.

All this despite the fact that Fernandes has been arguably Man Utd’s best and most consistent player over the course of the two years he has been at the club.

He joined from Sporting in January 2020 and has since scored 47 goals and provided 34 assists in 106 games.

His levels have dropped a touch this season but he has still managed a more than respectable seven goals and nine assists in all competitions.

Man Utd have been enduring a disastrous season on a team level in 2021-22 and are currently languishing in seventh position, five points off a Champions League spot and 24 points behind league leaders Man City.
