Why Erling Haaland should sign for Chelsea instead of Real Madrid

If reports across Europe are to be believed, Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has already made up his mind over his next move and all speculation can now be put to bed.
For example, this week reports came through that Manchester United had pulled out of the race to sign Haaland after learning of the player’s unwavering desire to join Real Madrid ni the summer.

Indeed, it seems all but certain that the Norway international will make the move to Spain either this summer or in the following year.
However, before a line is drawn under the matter, it may be worth a club like Chelsea properly testing the water and the apparent wisdom in Haaland making the move to the Spanish capital.
Sure, a move to Madrid could work out well for Haaland, but a move to Chelsea would make far more sense on paper.
Why Haaland must reconsider Madrid move
While just about every player dreams of one day playing for Madrid, there are issues with this current iteration of the club that could stand in the way of Haaland’s ambitions.
For a start, the team is already top heavy and in need of investment across the pitch. Which certainly won’t happen if Haaland is joined by Kylian Mbappe at the club next season.
Even if a midfielder like Paul Pogba were to join on a free transfer, there are still defenders, full-backs and defensive midfielders that desperately need to be signed.
And even if Madrid did manage to put together a well-balanced squad, there’s no guarantee that Carlo Ancelotti can take this club back to the top of European football. Which is where Mbappe and Haaland will demand to go.
Why Chelsea makes more sense
This is, undoubtedly, where Chelsea can step in and offer Haaland a better option for the long-term benefit of his career.
By hook or by crook, the Stamford Bridge side have become experts at winning major silverware, with two European Cups, two Europa Leagues, two FA Cups and two Premier League titles in the past 10 years.
Indeed, whether Thomas Tuchel is still picking the side next season, there’s rarely any doubt that Chelsea make sure they’re always pushing for major trophies. And that should appeal to Haaland immensely.
Add that to the fact that the club are still desperately looking for a talisman to build their team around and it’s easy to see why Haaland could easily step into this club, take the place of Timo Werner or Romelu Lukaku, and enjoy an immense amount of success at the club for some time.
