Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers has been told to remain at the club this summer, despite reported interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and he is currently the frontrunner to start in an attacking midfield role for England at the upcoming World Cup.

Rogers signed a new six-year contract at Villa Park back in November, but rumours have hinted that Chelsea are ready to rekindle their interest in his signature when the 2026 summer transfer window opens as they look to bolster the attacking options available to Liam Rosenior.

The Blues have also been linked with Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz and Everton star Illiman Ndiaye in recent months, but Rogers is widely regarded as their top target amid their pursuit of a player capable of being deployed as a left winger or deputising for Cole Palmer in a No.10 role.

However, former England international Chris Waddle believes that Rogers should reject any transfer offers this summer in favour of remaining at Aston Villa for the foreseeable future.

Morgan Rogers told to stay at Aston Villa

Speaking to FootballTransfers on behalf of 10bet, Waddle admitted: “I’m a big fan of Rogers. His work rate is good as well and he's always available. He's played so much football.

“Every time you see Villa, he's playing. They rest Ollie Watkins, they rest Jadon Sancho, they rest John McGinn, but he just seems to play every game. And I don't know if that's going to work out of his favour at the World Cup, as he could be running out of legs by that time.

“He's signed a new long-term deal, so if people are interested in Morgan Rogers, it's going to cost them an awful lot of money and he looks very happy and content at Villa.”

Rogers has been an integral player for Unai Emery ever since his arrival from Middlesbrough in February 2024, and Waddle believes there is little reason for the 23-year-old to push for a transfer.

The former Newcastle and Tottenham star added: “Villa are still going the right way, they're still pushing for the Champions League, they've got a chance of winning trophies, but as we've seen with many clubs over the years, sometimes they may think: ‘We've ran out of money, we need more money,’ so they sell their best player.

“But at the minute, I don't see any reason why he needs to leave. He’s got a good manager, a great team, he's playing well and he should be the player behind Harry Kane for me.”
