Mohamed Elneny has announced that he will be leaving Arsenal following their final Premier League game of the season against Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old has played just six times in all competitions this campaign and he will bid farewell to the club when his deal expires at the end of June.

Elneny joined Arsenal for €12.5 million from Basel in January 2016 and he has made 161 appearances for the Gunners, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists.

The Egypt international - who has 98 caps for his country - helped Arsenal win the FA Cup in 2017, as well as the Community Shield later that year.

Elneny was on loan at Besiktas when Mikel Arteta’s side won the 2020 FA Cup, but he returned to the club and played 90 minutes as they emerged victorious in the Community Shield final against Liverpool four weeks later.

His role at the Emirates Stadium has diminished in recent years and he has mustered just 95 minutes of game time during the 2023-24 season, with the likes of Declan Rice, Jorginho and Thomas Partey ahead of him in the pecking order.

“I’m really going to miss you so much and you will be in my heart forever. I wanted to say how much I love you and how much you mean to me. I will never forget the way you’ve supported me.

“I’m going to see you on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium to say goodbye face-to-face. See you, Gunners.”
