AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw is happy at the club and has no intention of leaving despite interest from Real Madrid, according to reports from Italy.

The German centre-back has been a key figure alongside Fikayo Tomori this season and his form has attracted interest from Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Real Madrid are willing to spend €20 million Thiaw, as per Mundo Deportivo, as they look to bolster their defensive depth following Eder Militao’s potentially season-ending ACL injury.

Thiaw is reportedly on their list of transfer targets, but Calciomercato have now reported that the 22-year-old wants to stay at San Siro rather than push for a move to Real Madrid.

Furthermore, Milan are hoping to reward Thiaw with a new contract at the club. The Rossoneri are planning on trebling his current annual wage of €800,000 and would like to extend his deal by one year, from 2027 to 2028.

Thiaw reportedly feels at home in Milan and does not want to leave the club after forcing his way into Stefano Pioli’s preferred starting XI.

Thiaw, who joined Milan from Schalke for €6m last summer, made 15 Serie A starts in his debut campaign and is well on his way to exceeding that tally in 2023-24. The German has started nine games in all competitions this season as Milan sit top of the Italian top flight.

Transfer interest in Thiaw

Calciomercato have confirmed that Real Madrid are closely watching Thiaw, while West Ham United are also keen on the Milan star.

According to Calciomercato, David Moyes’ side have made contact with Thiaw’s representatives and would be open to spending €20m on the defender, just like Real Madrid.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with signing a new centre-back and Manchester United’s Harry Maguire remains another option following their failed summer pursuit of the England international.
