Inter Milan and Barcelona have agreed a shock deal that will see Jordi Alba move to the Nerazzurri on loan.

That is according to Barcelona transfer expert Gerard Romero, who reports that the two clubs have agreed on a one-year loan deal.

Romero adds that Barcelona will contribute to 60 per cent of Alba’s wages at Inter.

Why Barcelona are happy to sell Alba

Barca are prepared to let the 33-year-old go because they no longer consider him a key player at the club.

He has fallen behind young left-back Alejandro Balde in the pecking order so far this season.

All that is required to complete this transfer now is for Alba to give his okay to move.

Barcelona have been busy offloading players in these final hours of the window, and they have also agreed to send Sergino Dest to AC Milan on loan.

This is in order to free up space and wages so they can sign new players on deadline day such as Alonso, and potentially even Bernardo Silva from Man City.

As for Inter, they were in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen to offload left wing-back Robin Gosens, possibly on loan.

That deal fell through but one assumes it could be resurrected if Jordi Alba is to move to Inter.

The Nerazzurri play a 3-5-2 formation meaning that Alba will line up as the left wing-back if he joins.

Alba is a club legend at Barcelona, having made 431 appearances over 10 years at the club, winning every major club honour in the game.
