Gini Wijnaldum's post-Liverpool blues show no sign of relenting, as speculation grows that the midfielder might well be on the move again this summer.

Wijnaldum became a firm favourite at Anfield after anchoring the Reds midfield for five seasons between 2016 and 2021, during which time the club was crowned champions of both England and Europe.

He was expected to take a similarly pivotal role at Paris Saint-Germain following his free transfer, but has instead failed to show the same consistency that was his hallmark under Jurgen Klopp.

Despite missing just seven Ligue 1 games in his debut season Wijnaldum was panned for his sub-par performances, and was even named the league's Flop of the Year by media outlet Get French Football News.

Such is his current malaise that PSG are considering cutting their losses on the 31-year-old and sending him away from the French capital as soon as possible.

According to CalcioMercato, Wijnaldum will not form part of Christophe Galtier's plans for the coming season.

The new PSG boss has made the midfielder available for transfer, while the player's management team are already sounding out potential suitors across Europe.

Milan, Roma - but not Liverpool

Serie A has emerged as a possible destination. Both Milan and Roma have already been offered his services, and the former in particular are taking the proposal seriously as they look to strengthen in anticipation of their Scudetto defence and Champions League campaign in 2022-23.

One potential obstacle lies in wait in the shape of Wijnaldum's salary package, though.

The midfielder is reportedly earning €9 million a year at Parc des Princes, a hefty figure for a defensive midfielder on the wrong side of 30.

One club who are not looking to sign the player are his old employers.

According to the Echo, Liverpool are happy with their current midfield set-up and will not make a move for Wijnaldum this summer, even on a temporary basis.
